THE ROOTS

deniz75.png

This page is dedicated to the precious memories of

my father Tarık DENİZ and my grandfather İslam DENİZ.

Practicing a profession as the third generation is as scary as it is proud. It's a bit scary because over time, what you do evolves into keeping a legacy alive beyond performing a profession.

My family’s maritime roots date back to the early 1940's. My grandfather Captain İslam, worked as a deep water expert until his last breath. My uncle Captain Faruk is still in the business and is at the peak of his career. However, my father's time as captain was relatively short.

Me? As the third generation at the business, I want to be on the deck until my last breath. And now, my lovely son Ege is running after me as the fourth generation.

FIRST GENERATION.

İSLAM DENİZ.

CAPTAIN, SAILOR & DIVER.

(1921 - 1995)

The first generation sailor of the family, İslam DENİZ.

He earned his living as a diver and a captain. And he raised his two sons as sailors.

And today, I'm doing the same...

He became one of the well-known captains of his region.

And today he is still remembered with full of respect.

SECOND GENERATION.

TARIK DENİZ.

CAPTAIN & WRITER.

(1951 - 2021)

One of the second generation sailors of the family, my lovely father Tarık DENİZ.

Although his time as captain was relatively short, he led the family's maritime business to the commercial level. He became the co-founder of the family company DENİZ YACHTING with his brother Faruk DENİZ at the early 80's.

Two brothers built one of the first 24 meter gulets in Turkey. With this boat, they provided incredible experiences to people from Europe and Türkiye. My family’s maritime career became known by important circles in Europe, North Africa and Türkiye.

I know that, my lovely father, who spent his life as a writer after his short career as a captain, has never lost his love for maritime.

SECOND GENERATION.

A.R. FARUK DENİZ.

CAPTAIN.

(1957)

The other second generation sailor of the family, my uncle Ali Rıza Faruk DENİZ.

Just like my grandfather, he spent his whole life as a sailor and a captain. And today Captain Faruk is at the peak of his career and still on the deck!

It is my responsibility to continue the family legacy as the 3rd generation. I am grateful to my family for giving me the chance to do this...

FOURTH GENERATION.

EGE DENİZ.

SAILOR.

(2005)

My son Ege started his career as a sailor when he was only 9 years old working with me. As he grew up, he gained experience and started his first commercial career on a 24 mt gulet when he was only 16.

He graduated from Maritime High School and is currently continuing his career as a sailor on a 45m commercial motor yacht.

He will soon inherit the family legacy and pass it on to the next generation.
